A Gathering of Fathers
A One Day Retreat: featuring Rodney Whitfield
A Gathering of Fathers is a unique time for men to celebrate the lives of their children in a relaxed environment with other guys who understand the journey of grief and child loss. This laid back retreat will allow time for conversation, reflection, questions and community. Rodney Whitfield will facilitate the morning. The retreat will be in Fort Worth, Texas.
Rodney is married to Allison D’Auteuil, founder of TeamMercy.org for 20 years. Their 4 children are Grace 10, Justice 9, Righteous 3, and their daughter Mercy would be 6. Mercy Elizabeth was born in 2011 with a rare genetic disorder that was incompatible with life (Trisomy 13). She lived for 13 days. Mercy’s life and death has changed their lives forever.
After the death of their daughter, Mercy, through the encouragement of the team (friends, family, neighbors, and church) supporting them on their journey and realizing the lack of grief resources readily available for surviving siblings (Justice and Grace), Allison and Rodney began a non-profit organization to get age appropriate grief resources in the hands of families with surviving sibling following the death of a brother or sister. Teammercy.org continues to do advocacy work in promoting the need of grief resources for siblings.
Rodney is currently Senior Pastor at Aldersgate UMC, Carrollton Texas. For fun, Rodney spends time, running, hiking, biking, swimming, and hanging out with his family. When he isn’t working, parenting, or training, Rodney is an active reader and movie watcher.
