Dear Friends of A Memory of Grows,
It is with a very heavy heart and out of an abundance of caution we are going to cancel the Legacy 5K that is scheduled for tomorrow. We will plan to reschedule the race as soon as possible and will continue to monitor how the COVID-19 virus plays out in our community. I will continue to be in touch with you via email and through our website and social media when we schedule a date.
This decision was not made easily and was made in consultation with the Tarrant County Department of Public Health and in conversation with city officials. I know that our gathering is a very unique event because it provides the space to gather as a community and to honor and remember our children among others who understand this journey of love and grief. I hope that you will take the time that you had already set aside for the race tomorrow and find a way to create a space to honor the legacy of your child or whoever it was that you were going to remember at our race. If you would like to email their photo to me, I will be happy to print it out and place it on our new Remembrance Wall tomorrow. Please email the photo to me by 4:00 this afternoon.
Your support of A Memory Grows has been overwhelming. Over 300 people had signed up to participate in this event. I hope that you will be able to join us when we reschedule the date. As for our Virtual Runners, we will get your t-shirts and medals packaged up and they will go in the mail at the first of next week. At this time, we will hold on to the race t-shirts for those who registered with hopes that you will be able to join us on the rescheduled date. If you are unable to attend, we will set up a time for you to come and pick up your shirt in the near future. Again, we will be in touch very soon.
Thank you for understanding and for your support of A Memory Grows.
